In collaboration with the National Partnership for Healthcare and Hospice Innovation (NPHI), HCCI recently hosted an exclusive two-day virtual workshop for learners representing NPHI member practices from across the country. This unique partnership aims to help NPHI members create sustainable, innovative house call programs that enhance the patient experience, improve health outcomes, and reduce costs.

“The workshop is a core component of the HCCI Solutions Suite developed for NPHI members. In addition to the workshop, the Solutions Suite includes a custom market analysis report, online course subscription bundle, and two practice development strategy sessions for each member program,” said Melissa Singleton, MEd, Chief Learning Officer for HCCI. “Based on preliminary feedback from the session, the workshop content has inspired NPHI members to make adjustments and enhancements in areas such as billing and coding practices, staffing, mapping, productivity, and more.”

“As hospice, palliative, and advanced illness care providers, NPHI members are experts at providing care in the home,” said Sarah Sharp, Manager, Center for Education and Vendor Relations at NPHI. “We are excited to continue our work with the specialists at HCCI to bring NPHI members the opportunity to learn about home-based primary care delivery. Whether beginning a practice or expanding current offerings, HCCI’s Workshop provides a collaborative, engaging learning environment from which attendees take away actionable steps and tools.”

Presenters for the workshop included HCCI’s Senior Medical and Practice Advisor, Paul Chiang, MD and Research Director, Aaron Yao, PhD; as well as guest faculty, Brianna Plencner, CPC, CPMA, Implementation Manager at Medically Home, and Ritu Suri, MD, Owner of Ritu Suri MD & Associates. Among the topics addressed were:

  • Getting Started: Key Considerations when Launching or Expanding a House Call Program
  • Coding, Documentation and Billing for Home-Based Medical Care
  • Surviving and Thriving in Dual Environments: Fee-for-Service and Value-Based Care
  • Simulated House Calls: Managing Medically Complex, Home-Limited Patients
  • Leveraging Data Analytics for Growth and Quality Improvement
